Blue Kia K2 sedan makes its official public premiere at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show!

Built on the same platform as the 2012 Kia Rio hatchback, the K2 sedan was designed and engineered specifically for the Chinese market. While sharing the same technical underpinnings as the new Rio 5-door, the B-segment K2 sedan sports a completely different exterior design lay-out.

The front fascia of the new K2 sedan features Kia’s “tiger nose” signature grille and exudes a high-tech and bold image thanks to innovative fog lamp design, large air intakes and dynamic swept back headlamps. A side character line, side air vent and trunk edge line add to the sporty image of the K2 sedan while the rear view features a two-tone bumper and modern combination lamps.



With an overall length of 4.370 mm, 1.700 mm width and 1.460 mm height, the all-new Kia K2 sedan provides greater cabin room than the outgoing model. It also boasts a 2.570 mm long wheelbase (the longest wheelbase in the segment) and a luggage capacity of 500 liters.

When Kia K2 goes on sale in China, it will be available with six different trim levels, two engines (1,4L and 1,6L) and the choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The entry-level 1,4L four-cylinder engine produces 107 horsepower, while more potent 1,6L unit packs 123 horsepower.

According to Kia, both engines deliver class-leading fuel economy ratings. The fuel efficiency for the 1.4L-powered Kia K2 equipped with 5-speed manual gearbox is 6.1 L/100km, or 6.5 L/100km when equipped with automatic transmission. Kia K2 1,6L with automatic transmission consumes 6.4 L/100km.

The K2 sedan will be produced at Kia’s manufacturing plant in Jiangsu province alongside Kia K2 5–door hatchback, which is slated to go on sale in August this year. Production of the four-door Kia K2 will commence in June, according to Kia.
