VW recalling 150K Passats over headlight concerns
Filed under: Sedan, Recalls, Safety, Volkswagen
Volkswagen is recalling 150,201 Passat sedans over potential headlight malfunctions. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the automaker, if the sedan's hood is "closed roughly (or dropped from a certain height)," the force can cause the low-beam headlight bulbs to lose electrical contact. Volkswagen says that if this happens, a warning light will illuminate inside the car, alerting the driver. But of course, we don't need to tell you why it's dangerous to have headlights that don't properly function. VW says no crashes or injuries have been attributed to this lighting issue. The German automaker will notify owners of the recall campaign, at which point dealers will install a new bulb fitting. What's more, dealers will inspect each car's hood bumpers, and may adjust or replace them in order to prevent contact with the headlight assembly in the future. Scroll down for the full details in Volkswagen's press release.Continue reading VW recalling 150K Passats over headlight concerns VW recalling 150K Passats over headlight concerns originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 18 Mar 2014 08:26:00 EST.
