Hyundai Recalls a Crapload of 2011 Sonatas

Uh oh, this goes to show nobody is safe from the recall bug. Hyundai, who over the past few years have really started to turn their image around from “budget alternative” to actually making desirable cars, just announced a recall on nearly 140,000 Sonatas built between Dec. 11, 2009 and September 10, 2010 as 2011 models

The recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, involves faulty connections between the universal joints and a steering shaft in the steering column. Those come loose, and you could lose steering completely

Hyundai will begins repairs next month – take your car to the dealer to have the technicians take a look to make sure everything is tightened securely

This really sucks for Hyundai – the Sonata is a huge volume seller for them, and any tarnishing of the name, especially with the redesign for 2011, might set them back a tad
