افتراضي 2012 BMW M6

There seems to always be hype and rumors circulating around this car, and it’s increased since the F10 M5 launch is around the corner. Traditionally, the M5 and M6 have shared a lot of similar kit, mainly, the same engine and gearbox. This would explain why potential buyers and M fans are looking at the new M5 through a microscope – to gauge what surprises the top of the range M car will bring. The new M6 will have a lot to live up to based on the outgoing V10 model. The beast showcased the fruits of BMW’s F1 escapades, with the use of lightweight composite materials in its construction, F1-derived V10 engine, and adjustable suspension. While it wasn’t everyone’s favorite in the looks department, no one could take anything away from its scintillating performance. The new 6 should be much better to look at and even better to drive, according to the info we have managed to amass.

The designer of the previous 6 series had passed away before he could get a chance to complete the project, leading to many jokes pertaining to the controversial look of the car. Some said that he got three quarters of the way there before kicking the bucket, leaving some of his minions to just slap on any rear end they desired, hence the awful rear angles.
BMW designer, Adrian Van Hooydonk, is very much alive, giving his newly designed 6 series a much better chance in the beauty contest. Straight away from the renderings, the overall look is much cleaner and less “alien looking” than the old M6. This is inline with BMW’s new design direction of “less is more”. One can easily see this when comparing the E46 M3 to the current E92. Gone are the days of über aggressive arches and testosterone-injected bulges from every angle. The new M6 benefits from a substantial de-Bangle-ing and subtle aggression that needs a sharp eye and keen wits to distinguish the M6 from say, a 650i sports pack.
From the front, the 2012 M6 is wider, and features a larger air dam and lower bumper, complete with built-in splitter. The splitter will generate front downforce, aiding in handling, and high speed stability – something that slightly plagued its predecessor when venturing over the 300km/h mark. The new air dam needs to be larger to facilitate the need for fresh air to the cars intercoolers, but more on that a bit later. We particularly like the new bullish nose and bulging bonnet, which has air intakes positioned at each corner, a la the E92 M3.
The side profile is streamlined and slick as you’d expect, with a new press line that extends in a “C” shape from the front wheel arch all the way to the rear. The fender sees the welcome addition of vented side marker housing that has become the norm for M cars. An uncluttered side skirt also conspires towards the cleaner look, perfectly offset by edgy aerodynamic wing mirrors. So far, the new model is definitely better than the old. From the rear, its business as usual, quad exhaust pipes, a wider track and bumper with integrated rear diffuser, and of course, the hallowed M6 badge. The rear bumper is lower and wider than the outgoing model, facilitating the wider track and rear wheels, which are rumored to be 20inch items. We have breathed a sigh of relief, noticing that the bootlid and rear tail light clusters have been re-worked, to create a more harmonious look, rather than the after thought rear appearance of the E63 version. All in all, we like what we see, which should do nothing to harm the sales of the new flagship in BMW’s lineup.
