MASERATI MAY CREATE ITS OWN VERSION OF ALFA ROMEO’S 4C CONCEPT

But another sibling in the Fiat family liked what it saw in the 4C as well, which has led Maserati to consider creating a mid-engined, two-seater coupe of its own based on the handsome 4C, according to Autoblog.nl. The revelation came via an interview with a contact at Abarth, who will also have a version of the 4C for itself, but the video has since been removed from YouTube.

Some rumors suggest the Alfa Romeo 4C production model will arrive in 2012, but if Maserati is going to attempt to create a unique model off of the carbon fiber chassis for itself, expect at least a two-year delay before arrival. You can also expect the 1.75-liter MultiJet, 200 horsepower engine expected in the Alfa version to be replaced with something a bit more substantial.

In the meantime, buyers will have to settle for the Alfa Romeo version until a model can be substantiated by its bigger, pricier brother at Maserati.
