افتراضي 2012 Kia K5 gasoline-electric hybrid car

Kia K5 gasoline-electric hybrid car with 150-horsepower 2.0L four-cyl. Nu engine introduced in South Korea!

Kia K5 hybrid car has first been introduced to the South Korean consumers during the Seoul Auto Show last month. The South Korean second largest carmaker used the event to showcase its latest electric-hybrid powertrain technology that will soon debut in the Korean-specs K5 hybrid ( and possibly; Euro-specs Optima hybrid sedan).

The all-new Kia K5 hybrid features Kia’s new electric-hybrid car powertrain system which is slightly different than the one available in the US-specs Optima Hybrid. The US-market Optima Hybrid is fitted with a 169-horsepower 2.4L Theta II four-cylinder engine, while the above-mentioned Korean sibling features Kia’s 2.0L Nu four-cylinder engine with slightly less power. The 2.0L Nu engine generates 150 horsepower, according to Kia.

The 150-horsepower four-cylinder engine is coupled with a 30-kw electric motor and six-speed automatic transmission, which was developed specifically for Hyundai-Kia hybrid electric vehicles. The vehicle is also equipped with lithium ion polymer battery pack that has a 63 percent higher power density and is 25 percent lighter than conventional batteries used in other hybrid electric vehicles. According to Kia, the Korean-market Optima hybrid car’s fuel economy is rated at 21 kilometers per liter.

The Optima Hybrid also sports Kia’s stop and go system – ISG and several other hi-tech features including a virtual engine sound system which enables pedestrians to hear the vehicle when running in full-electric mode.

The hybrid-electric versions of the 2012 Kia Optima has also been given a slight design update to differentiate it from its internal combustion engine-driven cousin. The Optima Hybrid sports a slightly redesigned front bumper and signature grille as well as new alloy-wheels.

In South Korea, the all-new Kia K5 hybrid electric car is available in three trim levels, priced at 29.25 million won ($27,200), 30.95 million won and 31.95 million won. The vehicle also has a six year or 120.000 km warranty.
