Project Track Slut, Part Two: Suspension
 Click above for a high-res gallery detailing the install With over 140,00 miles on the clock, the stock suspension of our BMW 318is project car was far from ready for its upcoming track assault, and the stiffer sidewalls and stickier rubber we fitted in our first installment accentuated the tired springs and shocks. Thankfully, the popularity of the E36 chassis makes shopping for new suspension bits an easy, if slightly overwhelming, affair. The choices range from pieced together spring/shock combos to race-ready coilovers, so we decided to split the difference with one of H&R's Touring Cup Kits (31005T-1). The package includes springs and shocks that lower the front by 1.5-inches and the rear by one inch, balancing ride comfort and stiffness while allowing us to traverse speed bumps without having to worry about teetering on our oil pan. BMW to raise prices by 1% to counter weak dollar
Filed under: Car Buying, Euro, BMW, Earnings/Financials  Most would argue that BMWs already flirt with being overpriced, though Munich would argue with you. The dollar's drop has hurt BMW's ability to earn a margin on each vehicle it sells in the United States, so prices will be bumped by one-percent beginning in June. BMW has taken a 17-percent whack in income for the first three months of 2008 as sales have slowed, the dollar weakened, low resale values, and bad debts have cost the luxury automaker. Though it's facing a slight slowdown due to those factors, a one-percent price increase is relatively modest, and shouldn't cause much consternation when it comes time to sign on the dotted line, though it makes the 135 that much more rareified. As long as it keeps vehicles like the M3 coming, we'll gladly let you pay more for your X6 -- we weren't getting one, anyway. [Source: Bloomberg]

More details emerge as Veritas RS III gears up for production
Regular readers will recall that about a month ago, our man Chris Tutor grabbed a photo of a mysterious car standing at the gates of the vaunted Nurburgring Nordschleiffe. We all hazarded our guesses, but it was our astute reader PandaBeat who identified it as the Veritas RS3, a concept roadster that appeared in 2001. After that we got some better photos and even a video of the concept car at the 'Ring, and now some more juicy details have emerged as well. Sources suggest that the Veritas RS III - conceived and executed by a small team of seven enthusiasts who resuscitated the name of Germany's first grand prix race team, spun off from BMW - will begin production at the end of this year at a rate of 50 examples per year. Instead of the BMW V12 in the concept, the production version is tipped to carry a tuned version of BMW's celebrated 5.0-liter V10 tuned to develop 600 horsepower. With that much power in a carbon-kevlar construction and minimal bodywork, we doubt the Veritas RS III will have any trouble meeting its projected 0-62 time of 3.2 seconds, but your neck muscles had better be as strong as an F1 driver's or an NFL linebacker's to withstand the wind forces slapping against your helmet at 216 mph. BMW on the 'Ring: Coming to a mobile phone near you

With all the tools installed on mobile phones these days (to say nothing of the ones trying to use them in traffic), there's plenty of ways to keep yourself productive while waiting for an appointment, a train, a date... whatever. Unfortunately, none of them enable you to improve your lap time on the Nürburgring. Fret not, dear gearhead, for Hands-On Mobile is coming to the rescue. The mobile software company has partnered with both BMW AG and Nürburgring GmbH to develop BMW Racing, a new video game for cell phones. The game will allow mobile gamers to drive any of six different cars - including the M3, M5, M6 and BMW Sauber F1.08, all fully licensed - around a virtual Nordschleife in two different player modes. The game will be available from participating mobile carriers in Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America this summer, while we pray American carriers pick up the game, too. We say BMW, you say... Part 2
Filed under: Coupes, Sports/GTs, Etc., BMW, Humor  Hot on the heels of the recent brandtag exercise that saw BMW drivers labeled as a-holes (and a lot of explanations and justifications in the comments), we have this classified ad from an M3 owner in Peoria, Arizona. Its starts off rather plainly, with a rundown of the aftermarket components with which the seller has graced. And then the listing takes a left turn and heads straight for Mars when the seller writes "This car has gotten me laid so much it is ridiculous." After that, you get a rundown of his success with women, copious use of the word "pimp" as both noun and adjective, his workout routine and testosterone regimen, his success with women, tidbits on his "killer" anatomy, instructions on how to become "a Jedi pimp," and more of his success with women. And in case you didn't realize it, he states explicitly: "I'm a winner." A few subtle clues dropped here and there in the description reveal that the owner is parodying Brucie from Grand Theft Auto IV, but you wouldn't know it if you've never played the game. We at Autoblog have a few questions: Who is this ladies' man they call John Connor? With the miraculous powers of this car, why isn't it at auction with Bonham's or RM?
