Introducing the zero emission SLS AMG E-CELL

Mercedes-AMG offers a glimpse of its latest groundbreaking project - an electric drive version of the gullwing that boasts fully-fledged super car power yet produces zero emissions.

Developed as part of “AMG Performance 2015” - the Mercedes-Benz’s ongoing strategy to reduce fuel consumption and emissions - the SLS AMG E-CELL showcases some of Mercedes-AMG’s most advanced automotive technology.

Power is supplied by four synchronous electric motors that produce formidable traction. The vehicle boasts a power output of 533 hp and 880 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0-62 in just 4 seconds. At 3.8 seconds, its petrol-powered production counterpart is only marginally quicker.

Driving dynamics are equally impressive. The four electric motors and two transmissions can be positioned close to the wheels and low to the ground, optimising weight distribution and enhancing handling.

Accelerator response is breathtaking because, unlike combustion engines, torque build-up with an electric motor is instantaneous. And with one motor for each wheel, permanent all-wheel drive ensures impeccable traction in any conditions.
