2000 The first UAZ-3162 came off the assembly line on April 27.
Severstal OJSC purchased a major stake in the plant on October 12.
Development has been completed of a low-tonnage vehicle, with semi-bonnet configuration of the multi-van type, which can carry up to 12 passengers.
2001 In September the UAZ-31622 was awarded a gold medal at the Seventh Moscow Industrial Exhibition and Fair.
The Ulyanovsk/Zavolzhie/Cherepovets/Ulyanovsk motor rally was used to demonstrate a number of vehicles - including the prototype UAZ-3165 minivan and UAZ-2362 pickup.
In line with UAZ OJSC's Dealer Network Development Program, a chain of sales agents was established among more than 100 Russian and CIS firms.
2002
The 30th anniversary of the main truck assembly line was celebrated in August.
In the same month, the UAZ-23632 pickup was chosen as the Best Pickup of MIMS-2002 and was awarded the Grand Prix diploma at the 7th Moscow International Motor Salon.
2003 A UAZ assembly facility was launched in Vietnam in March.
On March 26, UAZ Simbir vehicles were among the winners in the 100 Top Russian Products All-Russia Contest Programme based on results in 2002, and were granted the right to display a silver sign showing this for two years.
A UAZ Simbir with a ZMZ-409 engine was featured at an international exhibition in Shanghai in April.
On November 20, the latest UAZ-31512 (a modification of the UAZ-469) came off the production line, followed by the first UAZ Hunter.
2004
Late in 2003, UAZ's body assembly facility passed a certification audit to confirm compliance of the enterprise's quality management system to ISO 9001 (2001 version) requirements. On January 16, 2004, representatives of the German TUV Management Service issued the ISO 9001:2000 certificate to the plant.
The first UAZ-2360 (a truck based on the 3160 model) came off the production line on March 4.
Between April 17 and May 30, a motor rally of new UAZ Hunter, Simbir and UAZ-2360 vehicles took place between Krasnoyarsk and St. Petersburg. The route exceeded 5,000 km. Off-road contests and test-drives of new UAZ vehicles, under the legend Off-Road Weekend, were arranged in Russians cities en route.
