افتراضي Training Begins for the 2011 Chevy Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle

Competition is heating up among domestic car manufacturers to see who can provide the best police cars around the country. With Ford’s upcoming Police Interceptor sedan and SUV, and newcomer Carbon Motors among the competition, Chevy had to answer back with their own model to add to the lineup. Meet the 2011 Chevy Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV.) How does it compare to the specialty-made Carbon Motors E7? Well, let’s just say I wouldn’t want to see one in my rear-view

The Caprice PPV is no wussy Impala rip-off, either. From the start, the car will be armed with a high-powered 6.0-liter V8 engine capable of 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. When mated to the specialty-tuned six-speed automatic gearbox, the car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds. Ok, so they could have done better there, but the car’s going to be damn heavy

Special tuning for the Caprice PPV promise police departments modes tailored specifically for their needs. The six-speed automatic transmission, for example, includes a Performance Algorithm Liftfoot (PAL) calibration within Sport mode that can tell what kind of driving conditions are present, and apply the appropriate amount of torque to the wheels, especially though tight turns. A few other special features, like special tuning for StabiliTrak to allow for more performance-oriented driving, and the contoured driver’s seat to allow room for the officer’s equipment belt, make the Caprice PPV a much more attractive alternative to police departments than your typical Crown Vic
