Report: Toyota pushing to dismiss sudden acceleration class action over NASA findings

Toyota logoToyota is facing down a lawsuit that cites unintended acceleration as the cause of several accidents and a greater-than-normal reduction in resale values. Due to recent findings by NASA, Toyota now has more ammunition for its legal efforts to get these allegations dismissed.

The automaker already attempted to have this case dismissed back in November of 2010. At the time, Judge James Selna declined to dismiss the suit based on the evidence presented by Toyota. This time, however, Toyota is armed with research conducted jointly by the space experts at NASA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which indicates that there are no electronic culprits to blame for the unintended acceleration phenomenon.
