Lexus just announced that the CT 200h Compact Hybrid they revealed last month at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show will, in fact be on sale in the United States. Set to display at the 2010 New York Auto Show, the CT 200h “is expected to lead the class in fuel economy and deliver low emissions, but the CT 200h isn’t just about being a hybrid, it’s about having fun,” said Lexus group VP and GM Mark Templin

Powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gas engine and Lexus Hybrid Drive, the compact hybrid, which is the first of its kind, features two motor generators which can each charge the battery pack and send power to the drive motor when needed. Just as with all Toyota-based hybrids, the CT 200h has multiple drives modes – Normal, Eco, Sport, and EV. I’m sure you can deduce what each mode is. Frankly, I don’t see this car bringing much new to the table, aside from being in its own class until one of the other premium auto makers makes a competitor (if it’s successful, of course.)
