Coolant hydrometer

Don't trust to the last guy to add coolant to your radiator�are you sure he didn't just top off with water when he ran low on coolant? Check with a hydrometer�but not the el cheapo four-ball variety. A proportional scale model is more accurate and far more durable. Aim for a 50/50 mix of coolant to water for the best cooling and freeze protection. Check the coolant when it's around 70 F; 10 degrees hotter or colder skews the reading.
