واجهت بطولة العالم لسباقات سيارات "فورميولا 1" انشقاقا مثيرا بعدما أعلنت 8 من فرق البطولة اليوم الجمعة اعتزامها إقامة بطولة منفصلة خاصة بهم كرد فعل لمطالب الاتحاد الدولي لسباقات السيارات (فيا) بوضع حد أقصى (سقف) لميزانياتهم.
وأكد اتحاد فرق "فورميولا 1" ( فوتا) في بيان رسمي له اليوم أن "الفرق رفضت تغيير الطلبات المشروطة التي تقدمت بها في البداية للمشاركة في بطولة العالم لـ"فورميولا 1" لعام 2010".
وأضاف البيان: "لا يوجد أمامنا بديل عن البدء في الإعداد لبطولة جديدة".
وكان ماكس موسلي رئيس فيا قد طالب فرق "فورميولا 1" بوضع سقف غير إجباري بقيمة 65 مليون يورو على ميزانياتهم لمنع "تسابق الأذرع المالية" أو التدخلات المالية السافرة في رياضة سباقات السيارات.
أما فرق فوتا الثمانية التي هددت بعمل بطولة خاصة بها خلال موسم 2010 فهي: فيراري، وماكلارين مرسيدس، وبي إم دبليو-ساوبر، وبراون، وتويوتا، وريد بول، وتورو روسو، ورينو.
ويتوقع أن تُجرى محادثات خلف كواليس سباق الجائزة الكبرى البريطاني لسباقات سيارات "فورميولا 1" المقرر إقامته يوم الأحد المقبل على مضمار سيلفرستون ضمن منافسات بطولة العالم لموسم 2009، وذلك في محاولة أخيرة لإنهاء الأزمة المتعلقة بخطة مقررة لتحديد سقف الميزانية.
ومن المقرر أن يعلن الاتحاد الدولي للسيارات (فيا) اليوم عن القائمة النهائية للفرق التي ستشارك في بطولة العالم العام المقبل، بينما تتمسك خمسة فرق من بينها براون جي.بي الذي يتصدر بطولة العالم حاليا بالمشاركة بشروط، كما يتصدر فريق فيراري ثلاثة فرق كان فيا قد أعلن مشاركتها بدون شروط، لكن ذلك جاء متعارضا مع رغبة الفرق الثلاثة.
وجرى تبادل الخطابات بين الفرق الثمانية الأعضاء في جمعية الفرق المنافسة في "فورميولا 1" (فوتا) والاتحاد الدولي (فيا)، وتتجه المؤشرات إلى أن كل طرف يرغب في الوصول إلى تسوية لإنهاء هذا الجدل.

It's official: F1 is broken. At least, with the FOTA's announcement it will create a rival championship, it appears that F1 as we have known it is all but broken. Max Mosley and the FIA have gone back and forth with the FOTA for months, with neither side able to agree on a compromise and both sides claiming the other party is being intransigent.
After meeting at Renault's Enstone, England headquarters the eight "rebel" teams (Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota, Renault, BMW, Brawn, Red Bull, Toro Rosso) decided there was no way to proceed with the FIA, so it would proceed without the FIA. The crucial bits of their follow-up press release state:
"The teams cannot continue to compromise on the fundamental values of the sport and have declined to alter their original conditional entries to the 2010 World Championship.
"These teams therefore have no alternative other than to commence the preparation for a new Championship which reflects the values of its participants and partners. This series will have transparent governance, one set of regulations, encourage more entrants and listen to the wishes of the fans, including offering lower prices for spectators worldwide, partners and other important stakeholders.
"The major drivers, stars, brands, sponsors, promoters and companies historically associated with the highest level of motorsport will all feature in this new series."
Barely a half a day has passed since the FOTA announced it start a breakaway championship, and as predicted, the FIA has announced it's suing the rebel teams. The FIA's sternest words were aimed at Ferrari, saying "The actions of FOTA as a whole, and Ferrari in particular, amount to serious violations of law including willful interference with contractual relations, direct breaches of Ferrari's legal obligations and a grave violation of competition law."
Max Mosley has been saying for months that F1 can do without the Ferrari and its rebel cohorts, and that the teams would be left off the 2010 championship entry list if they didn't come into line. Apparently, even though the sport can survive without them, and even though there are plenty of other teams applying to get into F1, the FIA would rather not explore that option. Hence the 2010 entry list has been "put on hold while the FIA asserts its legal rights."
