EMGRAND EC7 Achieves C—NCAP’s Maximum Award of 5 Star Safety

On January 7th, 2011, on CATRC(China Automotive Technology & Research Center) Press Conference in Tian Jin, CATRC releases the C-NCAP（China－New　Car　Assess ment　Program）crash test results for 8 cars of the 4th line-up test in 2010. EMGRAND EC7 (coded as MR7181), GEELY’s pioneering B class sedan, achieves C-NCAP’s maximum award of 5 star safety rating. With frontal impact of 13.61 points, 40% offset impact of 14.41 points and side pole impact of 15.8 points, EC7 is scored 46.8 points for overall safety performance.

EMGRAND EC7 is GEELY’s second model meeting C-NCAP 5 Star rating following GEELY PANDA in 2009, which is so far the only mini car reaches C-NCAP’s 5 Star. EC7 and PANDA achieve high scores in C-NCAP 5 star rating among so far only 5 independent Chinese-manufactured models that pass C-NCAP 5 Star safety rating. EC7’s C-NACP score tops all other tested independent Chinese manufactured vehicles, and even higher than those middle and higher line-up from joint venture auto brands like FAW-VALKSWAGEN’s MAGOTAN and SHANGHAI VALKSWAGEN’s SUPERB.
