Volkswagen Italdesign concepts - Click either image for high-res gallery
Giorgetto Giuigiaro and his Italdesign studio have a long history of collaboration with the
Volkswagen Group. In addition to having designed the original
Golf and
Scirocco, Guigiaro has penned a whole slew of showcars for the German automotive empire from the Volkswagen W12 concept to the numerous
Seat designs, to say nothing of all the
Lamborghini and
Bugatti models over the years. But the relationship between Italdesign and Volkswagen grew that much closer

when the latter
acquired the former last May. Now close to a year later, we have our first glimpse at the first product of that collaboration in the form of two concept cars.
The pair were apparently leaked from the European patent registry and could be Giugiaro's vision of the form which the next-generation Golf and
Polo might take. Or they could represent the next Scirocco and the production Up! urban runabout. Word has it that they're electric powered, and could be unveiled at the upcoming
Geneva Motor Show next week. We'll have to sit tight to find out for sure, but in the meantime you can check out the images of both in the gallery below.
