The engine (B4L18), which has been in development for two years with support from Ricardo,

The Lifan 620 is due to go on sale in April,
and will also offer a 1.6L Tritec engine option.
In 2006, Lifan entered a strategic cooperation with Ricardo on the design and development of a completely new family of car engines of 0.8-
2.4 liters displacement meeting Euro 4 standards and beyond, and new transmissions
featuring technologies such as automated manual transmissions (AMT) and dual-clutch transmissions (DCT). (Earlier post.)
The first engine resulting from the partnership
reportedly will be a
1.3L Euro 4 engine that can reach Euro V standards through an upgrade.
