Volkswagen Golf & Polo Style by Karl Lagerfeld - Click above for high-res image gallery

Karl Lagerfeld might not be the first name you associate with automobiles - fashion and photography, sure, but not automobiles. The German fashion icon recently shot the latest Pirelli calendar, but that's not as close as he's getting to cars, as Volkswagen has brought him in to design and promote a new trim line.

Thus far offered exclusively in Germany, the Style packages for the Polo, Golf and Golf Plus upgrade on the plebeian hatchbacks' appearance with such special touches as new alloys, tinted windows and lamp lenses and the requisite special badges. There's also a Style Plus package that changes the wheels yet again and throws in a sunroof in the process.

The packages actually save customers money over spec'ing out the same vehicles with the same options independently, but is this a question of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts?
