Damage Caused by Autolite Sparkplug

A short time ago I did a tune up on a 1992 Plymouth Grand V. The spark plugs and the wires were replaced. Plugs were correctly gaped and torqued. The engine before the tune up had a healthy 160 psi (plus or minus 5 psi on all cylinders). Vehicle ran very well after the tune up. In the first 26 miles after the tune up the vehicle developed a miss. It was check out and one cylinder was dead. The spark plug was removed and
looked like this.
When we contacted our supplier AAW Auto Parts of Pasco, Washington, we were told that the spark plug would have to be sent in to Honeywell for evaluation. Honeywell auto lites answer was that the damage was caused by pre-detonation. This is incorrect. Pre-detonation cause and erosion pattern and this spark plug shows a clean square cut across the ceramic insulator indicating a defect in the insultor.
This destroyed the engine and we replaced it for the customer at our cost with no help from our supplier or Honeywell Autolite. Let the business and the individual be ware–your are the warrante for failed parts.
