June, 2010 – The all-new Ferrari 458 Italia, replacing the F430, goes on sale July 8, 2010 – The first incident of a 458 Italia randomly catching on fire is reported. Many more catch on fire after that, suspiciously all in the same place Sept. 1, 2010 – Ferrari recalls all 1,248 of the 458s sold so far, admitting that there was a problem related to the adhesive used on the wheel-arch assemblies, and that the adhesive could overheat and in some cases, catch fire Nov. 6, 2010 – Thinking that all of the Ferrari 458s are fixed, one more bites the dust, catching on fire in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Not much has been given in terms of details about the incident, but either the recall didn’t fix the issue with the cars completely, or the owner of the Ferrari didn’t have the service completed as required. Who buys a $225,000 supercar and refuses to have a service completed that would prevent the car from catching on fire More pics over at WreckedExotics |
