Authorities say driver fatigue and ignorance of safety regulations led to the crash, which left four people dead. The accident came after the DOT announced it would perform surprise inspections of bus companies in 13 states this past April.

Despite the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration stopping Sky Express from operating buses in the wake of the May 31 accident, CNN reports that the company was continuing to sell tickets under the banners 108 Tours and 108 Bus. In addition to the four fatalities, the accident put 53 passengers in the hospital. The bus driver, Kin Yiu Cheung, has been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving for his role in the crash.

DOT stops company in fatal VA bus crash from resuming under new name originally appeared on Autoblo g on Mon, 06 Jun 2011 17:35:00 EST.
