Various sources are reporting today that BMW is considering building a CSL version of the 1 Series M coupe. The CSL moniker was made famous by BMW's M3 and pretty much translates to "stripped out, track ready, performance version". James Morrison, BMW's product manager, stated in a recent interview that the 1 Series M CSL will definitely come, if there will be a demand for such a car. Morrison said that making the 1 Series M lighter will be quite expensive, which in turn, will raise the 40,000 GBP price tag of the model. He also estimates that a true CSL version of the BMW 1 Series M will cost around 60,000 GBP, which is quite a bit of money.

We're guessing that eventually, BMW will build
the 1 Series M CSL as a limited production model. The 1 Series M is already a very serious piece of machinery, and customers are already comparing it to its bigger brother, the M3.
