from what i have been able to find out,ladas went on sale in canada
in late 1979 for the 1980 model year,with sedans sold through 1997,
niva through 1998.
-1980-98 niva 2121
-'80-83 "lada 1500" 2106,possibly 2103 very early
-1984 "lada 1600"2106
-1984-?" signet" 2105 (1300 and 1500 engines)
-1985-'94?"signet"2107
-1985-'97 "signet"wagon 2104
-1987-97 "samara" 2108
-this info is from an oil filter application catalog
"pickup"versions of the niva were sold too
The automatic transmission is a TH-180 from the chevy chevette-this
transmission has a removable bellhousing,so a specific bellhousing
can be cast to adapt this tranny to other ,non-GM engines.
