Hamman-Uhh, Hamman-Uhh: Tuner takes BMW X6 to the extreme with Tycoon

<br />German tuner Hamann seems to have a knack for creatively naming its vehicles. There's the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/31/official-details-on-the-hamann-slr-volcano/">Volcano</a> based on the McLaren SLR, the 911 Turbo dubbed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/23/hamann-stallion-re-turbocharging-the-porsche-911-turbo/">Stallion</a>, the Cayenne-based <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/30/hamann-releases-cyclone-wide-body-kit-for-porsche-cayenne/">Cyclone</a>, and even an F430 called the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/20/dark-magic-hamann-ferrari-f430-black-miracle/">Black Miracle</a>. The latest to be added to the Hamann lineup is the Tycoon, a widebody version of the BMW X6 that also gets a boost in power as well as some interior appointments. The body kit itself consists of a new front fascia and front and rear "wings" that provide the extra width, plus side skirts, a three-part diffuser and roof spoiler. Anodized 23-inch alloy wheels with a polished lip complete the look of the exterior. <br /><br />Under the hood, Hamann boosts the twin-turbo inline-6 in the xDrive35i model to 360 horsepower, and a performance package for the Euro-only diesel engine is available as well. Inside, carbon fiber trim and aluminum accessories compliment a new three-spoke steering wheel. More details in the press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/bmw-x6-to-the-extreme-the-hamann-tycoon/">after the jump</a>, and plenty of high-res photos in the gallery below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/">Hamann BMW X6 Tycoon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/1308085/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/hamanntycoon_01_thumbnail .jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/1308086/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/hamanntycoon_02_thumbnail .jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/1308087/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/hamanntycoon_04_thumbnail .jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/1308088/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/hamanntycoon_05_thumbnail .jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hamann-bmw-x6-tycoon/1308089/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/hamanntycoon_06_thumbnail .jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Hamann]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/bmw-x6-to-the-extreme-the-hamann-tycoon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hamman-Uhh, Hamman-Uhh: Tuner takes BMW X6 to the extreme with Tycoon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/bmw-x6-to-the-extreme-the-hamann-tycoon/">Hamman-Uhh, Hamman-Uhh: Tuner takes BMW X6 to the extreme with Tycoon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 12:34:00 EST. More Reports: Next BMW 1 Series could spawn Super Sport version

Customers complain that the current BMW 1 Series is too small, while others say it's too heavy. Some want it to offer more space, while others want it to be sportier. You can't please everybody, but BMW is evidently going to try.<br /><br />Although the next version of the compact 1 Series is expected, as most new models are, to grow in size, BMW is also reportedly planning a lightweight two-door sport model. Referred to in the interim as the 1 Series Super Sport (to avoid confusion with the original mid-engine M1 exotic), the hot 1 would be a spiritual successor to the '60s-era 2002 (pictured above) and the original '80s-era M3. Motivation could be provided by a turbo- or supercharged four-cylinder driving as much as 300 horsepower through a dual-clutch gearbox, coupled with all the electronic bells and whistles of modern day BMWs for a 0-60 sprint in five seconds flat. With those kind of stats, we hope this is one of those rumors that turns out to be true.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=h ttp://www.autobild.de/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum =1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dautobild%26h l%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3DG5t%26 pwst%3D1">AutoBild</a> via <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/next-gen-bmw-1-series-may-feature-2002-spiritual-successor.html ">Motor Authority</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/more-reports-next-bmw-1-series-could-spawn-super-sport-version/">More Reports: Next BMW 1 Series could spawn Super Sport version</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 13:58:00 EST. Spy Shots: 2011 BMW 6-Series Cabrio getting swirly-whirly

<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/spyphotos/" rel="tag">Spy Photos</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/convertibles/" rel="tag">Convertibles</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/coupes/" rel="tag">Coupes</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bmw/" rel="tag">BMW</a></p><a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/01/spy-shots-2011-bmw-6-series-convertible.html"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/new-6-spy.jpg" alt="" /></a><br /><br />In its 93 year history, BMW has only produced two generations of the 6-Series: the original from 1976 to 1989, and the current model introduced in 2003. But these days a product cycle over five years is growing long in the proverbial tooth, so the Bavarian automaker is preparing to launch the third-generation 6 by 2011.<br /><br />Although it is hard to tell much from the spy shots of this heavily disguised test mule, the 2011 6-Series is expected to follow the same form as the current model, although like the new 7-Series and Z4 roadster, it will feature toned-down styling to minimize the controversial "flame surfacing" technique and the so-called "Bangle Butt" that characterizes the current model.<br /><br />While this convertible test mule appears to be wearing a soft-top, sources point out that the new 6 is expected to go with a folding hard hat in its next iteration (remember that mules for the original Z4 were initially spied wearing a faux canvas roof, only to have the production car carry a retractable hard-top,). It is too early to tell if that means that a hard-top convertible will be the only version offered, but given that the two-door 3 Series is offered in both coupe and cabrio bodystyles, our money is on the 6 Series continuing down both paths.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/01/spy-shots-2011-bmw-6-series-convertible.html">CarScoo p</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/spy-shots-2011-bmw-6-series-cabrio-getting-swirly-whirly/">Spy Shots: 2011 BMW 6-Series Cabrio getting swirly-whirly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 18:30:00 EST. 507-hp BMW Alpina B7 rumored to appear in Geneva

<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/sedans/" rel="tag">Sedans/Saloons</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bmw/" rel="tag">BMW</a></p><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/uns_neu_alpb7.jpg" /><br /><br />Back in December, we received a surprise <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/alpina-teases-with-sketch-of-next-b7-sedan/">sneak peak sketch</a> of the upcoming Alpina B7 (above). Now Carscoop is quoting inside sources with news of the B7's new powertrain, and a date for the unveiling. The new Alpina B7 is rumored to use BMW's 4.4L, twin-turbo V8, retuned to pump out a breathtaking 507 hp. That's a mere seven ponies more than the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/02/bmw-finally-bringing-alpina-b7-to-chicago/">last generation B7</a>, which achieved additional punch from BMW's 4.4L by employing a supercharger. The new Alpine B7 will supposedly be unveiled to the press at Geneva this March, where we'll learn more, like whether the modified 7 series will receive BMW's rumored eight-speed transmission.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/01/insider-bmw-alpina-b7-gets-507hp-twin.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/23/507-hp-bmw-alpina-b7-rumored-to-appear-in-geneva/">507-hp BMW Alpina B7 rumored to appear in Geneva</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 10:02:00 EST.
