</em></strong> <div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><sma ll>BMW 7 Series by Lumma Design - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div> <br /> No matter which way you look at it, the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/7+series">BMW 7 Series</a> is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor in terms of styling. But if you're looking for something a little more aggressive, Lumma Design has an answer for you: A lot of carbon fiber ought to do the trick.<br /> <br /> Much as it has done for just about everything else made in the Fatherland, the German tuner has released a raft of carbon bits for the flagship Bimmer. Included in the package are a new grille, door handles, door mirror housings, front bumper with integrated LEDs, a quad-tip exhaust and massive 22-inch wheels riding on ultra low-profile rubber.<br /> <br /> Lumma being more into design than engine tuning, the mechanical bits of the car remain untouched, but you can get a closer look in the gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/">BMW 7 Series by Lumma Design</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/#3365808"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lumma-design-bmw-serie-71_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/#3365816"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lumma-design-bmw-serie-74_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/#3365819"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lumma-design-bmw-serie-73_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/#3365821"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lumma-design-bmw-serie-72_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-7-series-by-lumma-design/#3365809"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lumma-design-bmw-serie-710_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.omniauto.it/magazine/13459/lumma-design-bmw-serie-7">OmniAuto.it</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/17/lumma-design-increases-its-carbon-footprint-with-bmw-7-series-pa/">Lumma Design increases its carbon footprint with BMW 7 Series package</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 09:28:00 EST. Paris Preview: BMW unwraps 6 Series Coupe Concept

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><sma ll>BMW 6 Series Concept - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div> <br /> Like so many "concepts" from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a>, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/6+series">6 Series Coupe</a> bound for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/paris-motor-show/">Paris Motor Show</a> is a concept in name alone. What you're looking at is BMW's next GT, and even a cursory glance proves that the Bangleization of BMW is officially over.<br /> <br /> Set to be based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/5+series">5 series'</a> underpinnings and taking several cues from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/beijing-2010-bmw-surprises-with-concept-gran-coupe/">Grand Coupe concept</a> shown in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/beijing-motor-show/">Beijing</a>, the next BMW 6 Series takes the brand's new upright grille, frames it with a set of full LED headlamps and than caps things off with a more contoured rump. We're not going to pass judgement on the design until we see it in person, but like the last 6er, this new GT appears to be a love it or loathe it affair.<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377934"><img hspace="4" border="1" vspace="4" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/17-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010-250op.jpg" alt="" /></a>On the contrary, the interior is an airy, organic environment, complete with an asymmetrical center console tilted towards the driver, a new navigation display and a host of aluminum and leather accents that are several steps beyond what's currently on offer from BMW. We're particularly digging the redesigned steering wheel and the waterfall of material that connects the dash to the transmission tunnel.<br /> <br /> BMW isn't giving up specifics on dimensions or engines - this is a "concept" after all - but expect the 2012 BMW 6 Series to be slightly lower and marginally wider than the current model. Power will be supplied by BMW's current array of naturally aspirated and turbocharged inline sixes, with the next <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/m6">M6</a> outputting over 550 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. The standard 6 should be in showroom early next year, with the M6 to arriving in late 2012 and the soft-top due out in late 2011.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/">BMW 6 Series Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377918"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/01-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377919"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/02-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377920"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/03-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377921"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/04-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-6-series-concept/#3377922"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/05-bmw-6-series-concept-paris-2010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/18/paris-preview-bmw-shows-off-6-series-coupe-concept/">Paris Preview: BMW unwraps 6 Series Coupe Concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Sat, 18 Sep 2010 20:07:00 EST. Review: 2011 BMW 550i

<br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img vspace="4" hspace="0" border="1" alt="2011 BMW 550i" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/lead1bmw550ireview2011.jp g" /></a> <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><sma ll>2011 BMW 550i - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div> <br /> More than one mile above sea level, located in the heart of Sequoia National Park, is the General Sherman tree. This nearly three-hundred foot tall Giant Sequoia is considered the largest tree in the world, as based on total volume. More impressive than its mass is its age - scientists believe it is between 2,300 and 2,700 years old. Giant Sequoias have prospered over centuries, while countless lesser trees have come and gone, because they posses very unique qualities. Their foot-thick bark allows them to resist fire, and their shallow roots take advantage of rain showers during periods of drought. And, in an interesting twist of natural survival, their tall canopies effectively block the sun, preventing competitors from taking hold and surviving in the darkened shadows at their base.<br /> <br /> The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/5+series">BMW 5 Series</a> is in a similar position. The long-established benchmark mid-size sport sedan finds itself in a constant battle with competitors trying to push it aside in an effort to capture its territory. Instead of resting on its laurels, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a> re-engineers the four-door once every eight years to conform to a changing and ever crowding segment.<br /> <br /> Introduced earlier this year, the all-new 2011 BMW 5 Series breaks new ground. Now sharing platforms with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/7+series">7 Series</a>, the sedan seems to have changed its tune from sport to luxury. We spent a week with the range-topping 550i, fitted with the automaker's twin-turbo 400-horsepower V8, to put our fingers on its new mission.<br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/24/2011-bmw-550i-review-road-test/#continued"><br /> Continue reading</a>...<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i">Review: 2011 BMW 550i</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/01bmw550ireview2011-1285286575_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2011 BMW 550i" title="2011 BMW 550i" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/02bmw550ireview2011-1285286580_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2011 BMW 550i" title="2011 BMW 550i" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/03bmw550ireview2011-1285286584_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2011 BMW 550i" title="2011 BMW 550i" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/04bmw550ireview2011-1285286587_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2011 BMW 550i" title="2011 BMW 550i" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2011-bmw-550i/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/05bmw550ireview2011-1285286594_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2011 BMW 550i" title="2011 BMW 550i" /></a></div><br /> <strong><em><font size="1">Photos copyright (C)2010 Michael Harley / AOL</font></em></strong><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/24/2011-bmw-550i-review-road-test/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2011 BMW 550i</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/24/2011-bmw-550i-review-road-test/">Review: 2011 BMW 550i</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 24 Sep 2010 11:57:00 EST. BMW announces trial markets for ActiveE electric car effort
<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bmw/" rel="tag">BMW</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/electric/" rel="tag">Electric</a></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/full/#2542669"><img vspace="4" hspace=" " border=" " alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/bmwactivee012-1261070703-630j.jpg" /></a>
<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><sma ll>BMW ActiveE concept - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div> <br /> The evolution of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw">BMW</a>'s electric vehicle program, Project i, goes sort of like this: from <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/05/04/at-witz-end-bmws-one-day-university-details-lessons-learne/">Mini E concept</a> to <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/01/27/dc-2010-bmw-says-mini-e-drivers-delighted-with-their-electric/">leasing that car to happy customers</a> to the <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/01/11/detroit-2010-bmw-activee-concept-is-all-charged-up-and-ready-to/">ActiveE concept</a> to field tests of the larger sedan next year and then on to <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/07/02/in-depth-bmw-megacity-vehicle-and-project-i/">the Megacity EV</a>, which is scheduled for 2013. Those last two steps have yet to happen, but today we learn a bit more about how and where the ActiveE, a modified 1 Series Coupe, will prowl the streets. BMW has announced that the following U.S. cities and areas will get the ActiveE:<br /> <ul> <li>New York City</li> <li>Los Angeles</li> <li>San Diego</li> <li>San Francisco</li> <li>Sacramento</li> <li>Boston</li> <li>select markets in Connecticut</li> </ul> So that makes California and the East Coast the lucky ones. We've heard <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/03/08/bmw-actually-were-planning-on-more-than-200-activee-units-for/">a few hundred ActiveEs would be tested around the U.S.</a>, but BMW hasn't provided any more details on the number of vehicles coming to each location. The field trial starts next summer, so we don't have that much longer to wait. <br /> <br /> What can drivers expect from the ActiveE? BMW says that "realistic simulations" show the all-electric car can go from 0-60 in approximately 8.5 seconds and the car has a top speed of around 90 miles per hour (electronically limited). Range is estimated at 100 miles. Unlike the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/mini+e">Mini E</a> , the ActiveE can seat four and carry about seven cubic-feet of stuff.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/">BMW Concept ActiveE</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/#2542676"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/bmwactivee000-1261070715_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/#2542668"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/bmwactivee001-1261070700_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/#2542667"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/bmwactivee002-1261070697_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/#2542666"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/bmwactivee003-1261070694_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-activee/#2542664"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/bmwactivee004-1261070690_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: BMW]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/23/bmw-announces-trial-markets-for-activee-electric-car-effort/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW announces trial markets for ActiveE electric car effort</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/23/bmw-announces-trial-markets-for-activee-electric-car-effort/">BMW announces trial markets for ActiveE electric car effort</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Thu, 23 Sep 2010 17:39:00 EST. Williams, Sauber give emerging talents their shot at the big leagues

<br /> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/williams">Williams</a> Grand Prix, which ran with BMW engines and factory support from 2000-2005, is giving a test drive to one Dean Stoneman. The 20-year-old Brit recently won the Formula 2 title, a series to which Williams supplies the spec chassis.<br /> <br /> After parting company with Williams, BMW acquired the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sauber">Sauber</a> F1 team, from which it has since divested. The Swiss outfit has likewise announced the signing of Esteban Gutierrez - pictured right, with Peter Sauber - as its test and reserve driver for next season. <br /> <br /> The 19-year-old Mexican driver, who's been affiliated with the team for a couple of years now, recently claimed the championship in the new GP3 series, driving for the ART Grand Prix team run by Nicolas Todt, manager of former Sauber driver (and current Ferrari pilot) Felipe Massa, and son of FIA president and former Ferrari chief Jean Todt. Ferrari has had longstanding ties with Sauber, and currently supplies their engines.<br /> <br /> Both drivers will be lining up alongside other aspiring talents at the post-season F1 young driver test in Abu Dhabi this coming November.<br /> <br /> [Sources: <a href="http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/86843">Autosport</a>, <a href="http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes _art_id=42041">pitpass</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/22/williams-sauber-give-emerging-talents-their-shot-at-the-big-lea/">Williams, Sauber give emerging talents their shot at the big leagues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Wed, 22 Sep 2010 07:57:00 EST.
