1956 Avolette Tourisme (de Luxe)
In the Mid-50's Egon Brutsch sold the license for building his three-wheeled vehicles to the Cessna aircraft distributor for France, named Societe Air-Tourist. Not satisfied with merely reproducing the open three-wheeler, they designed their own vehicle with a tubular body frame. Construction took place in an aircraft hangar near the Paris airport. The Paris Salon of 1955 saw the introduction of five :fun_36_3_1[1]:versions of their egg-shaped doorless vehicles.
The suspension by Neidhart was rubber-in-torsion; the steering was by flexible cable. This example, the 200 SC, (S for Sachs, C for coupe), uses the familiar Messerschmitt motor with a swing axle driving the single rear wheel. ROSE4UThe upper shell was reinforced with a simple tube cage and the fenders protected with polished aluminum casings, which were also used as step-plates.
The Avolette was available in five different versions, all with single-cylinder, 2-stroke motors and 3 or 4 wheels.:fun_36_3_1[1]: The Competition Deluxe utilized a differently styled fiberglass shell. There was a connection to the Societe France Jet, in 1958, producing Brutsch's V2N design.
Numerous accessories were available at extra charge, including the forward-tilt hardtop,ROSE4U:fun_36_3_1[1]: luggage carrier, hubcaps, and windshield wiper, all to be seen on this car.

1958 Brütsch Mopetta
Egon Brütsch decided he would build "the world's smallest **** for the 1956 IFMA (International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany).

The Prototype was apparently created overnight and the next day he leaned some wheels against it, had his Secretary sit in it and he took One Photograph of it.

ROSE4U:fun_36_3_1[1]:

While he had time to attach the wheels for the IFMA Exhibition, he did not find time to sort out the mechanicals, so the Mopetta was placed high up for display so that this was not an issue.

After much interest at the IFMA from several countries, Brütsch began to actually set about to make the Mopetta work and fitted a 50cc ILO motor with kickstarter to it.

Since the body was Fiberglas, Brütsch hit upon the idea of also marketing the vehicle as a "boat". The fact that it was not watertight did not discourage him in the least. Publicity photos were taken apparently showing the Mopetta crossing a stream, but in reality, the water was perhaps only a few inches deep at the most.

Georg von Opel planned to build the Mopetta at the HOREX factory to sell it as the Opelit at his OPEL dealership, but he lost interest in 1958 and only 14 units were ever built.

1958 Brütsch Rollera
Egon Brütsch built Four Cars for Display at the 1956 IFMA
(International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany).

One of them was the Mopetta, another was a larger version called the ROLLERA, which had a larger bench seat and a 100cc motor.

In the summer of 1957, after attempting to generate interest at the IFMA, Brütsch loaded 2 "normal sized cars" with 3 Mopettas and a Rollera on the Roof and in the Trunk and drove around with his Secretary looking for someone who might be interested in producing them.

Only 8 units were ever produced (licensed in France) and only Four are known to survive today.

Ironically, while Egon Brütsch was one of the most influential and prolific microcar designers, his own marques only sold in very limited numbers.
