The previously seen tacked-on rear fender flares of the previous mules have been discarded in favor of enhanced sheet metal. All of the metal from the side character line is covered in the standard-issue BMW swirly prototype wrap. Based on the new nose, this car has some serious air ingestion requirements as evidenced by the large openings below the bumper.<br /> <br /> Within the wheels, the BMW engineers have wasted none of the available space, filling the fronts with as much brake hardware as could be squeezed in with only slightly less going into the back corners.<br /> <br /> If the production car sounds like what <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/20/video-bmw-1-m-m1-prototype-makes-an-appearance-at-the-ring/#continued">we hear in the video after the jump</a>, driving this 1 M/M1/135is/whatever will be a glorious audio experience. <em>Tip of the hat to Luis!</em><br /> <br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=377145"> 1addicts.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/video-bmw-1-series-m-prototype-makes-an-appearance-at-the-ring/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: BMW 1 Series M prototype makes an appearance at the 'Ring</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/video-bmw-1-series-m-prototype-makes-an-appearance-at-the-ring/">Video: BMW 1 Series M prototype makes an appearance at the 'Ring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 23 Apr 2010 13:59:00 EST. Beijing 2010: 2011 BMW 535Li ready for chauffeur duty

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><sma ll>2011 BMW 535Li - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div> <br /> The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/beijing-2010-2011-audi-a8-l-w12-stretches-onto-the-stage/">Audi A8 L W12</a> isn't the only long-wheelbase saloon to debut at this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/beijing-motor-show/">Beijing Motor Show</a>. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a> has a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/31/big-stretch-bmw-reveals-long-wheelbase-5-series-for-china-w-vi/">stretched version</a> of the all-new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/5+series">2011 5 Series</a> that'll be built and sold exclusively in China. The limo-like Fiver is a full 5.5 inches longer than the standard 5 Series sedan, all of which accounts for additional rear legroom. New rear seat amenities like an entertainment system, adjustable sunblinds and a folding table are on hand, as well.<br /> <br /> Spec-wise, the long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series isn't much different than the models sold in other markets. Three six-cylinder engines are available and eight-speed automatic transmissions are standard across the board. It may not be as over-the-top as Herr Audi, but we'd gladly go for a ride in the back of this upscale Bimmer any day. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/">Beijing 2010: 2011 BMW 535Li</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/#2922508"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/bmw-535li-live1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/#2922509"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/bmw-535li-live2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/#2922510"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/bmw-535li-live3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/#2922511"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/bmw-535li-live4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li/#2922512"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/bmw-535li-live5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/">BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase for China</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/#2849872"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/01bmw5-longwhlchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/#2849873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/02bmw5-longwhlchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/#2849874"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/03bmw5-longwhlchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/#2849876"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/04bmw5-longwhlchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-5-series-long-wheelbase-for-china/#2849877"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/05bmw5-longwhlchi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <em><strong><small>Live photos by Sam Abuelsamid / Copyright (C)2010 Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/24/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li-prepares-for-chauffeur-duty/">Beijing 2010: 2011 BMW 535Li ready for chauffeur duty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Sat, 24 Apr 2010 16:35:00 EST. Video: BMW Concept Gran Coup?© unveiled live in Beijing to strange music

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><sma ll>BMW Gran Coupé concept reveal - click above to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/video-bmw-concept-gran-coupe-live-unveiling-in-beijing/#continued">watch the video</a></small></strong></em></div> <br /> At last week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/beijing-motor-show/">Beijing Motor Show</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a> unveiled its new four-door <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/beijing-2010-bmw-surprises-with-concept-gran-coupe/">Gran Coupé concept</a>. To be more precise, they revealed the car in the Chinese city, but not at the show itself. At the time, we scoured the BMW stand and the only new vehicle we found there was the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/24/beijing-2010-2011-bmw-535li-prepares-for-chauffeur-duty/">535Li extended-wheelbase</a>, with no sign of the new concept. <br /> <br /> It turns out that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/23/beijing-2010-bmw-surprises-with-concept-gran-coupe/">BMW held a private reception the night before the media day</a> at the show, and there the concept stayed. In a 'better late than never' move, one of the attendees has posted a video of the reveal, and we're sharing that with you now. Designer Adrian van Hooydonk and Chairman Dr. Norbert Reithofer opened the doors on the Gran Coupé in an extended (albeit not particularly awe inspiring) manner, but the concept still looks pretty great regardless, and it also looks very nearly production-ready. Hopefully we'll get a chance to check out the Gran Coupé live somewhere soon, but in the meantime, check out the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/video-bmw-concept-gran-coupe-live-unveiling-in-beijing/#continued">video after the jump</a>.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/">Beijing 2010: BMW Concept Gran Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/p90059855_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/p90059854_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/p90059847_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/p90059850_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/beijing-2010-bmw-concept-grand-coupe/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/04/p90059851_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/25/video-bmw-concept-gran-coupe-live-unveiling-in-beijing/#continued">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/video-bmw-concept-gran-coupe-live-unveiling-in-beijing/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: BMW Concept Gran Coup?© unveiled live in Beijing to strange music</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/video-bmw-concept-gran-coupe-live-unveiling-in-beijing/">Video: BMW Concept Gran Coup?© unveiled live in Beijing to strange music</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 09:59:00 EST. Jeremy Clarkson on BMW's X1: It isn't just bad, it's 'rubbish'

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><sma ll>2010 BMW X1 - click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div> <br /> Most of us weren't too thrilled when we first <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/15/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1-shows-up/">saw the BMW X1</a> last year in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt</a>. The reasons were many and varied, but they can basically be lumped into one of two camps. First up is the aesthetics camp. Cries of "ugly" cropped up in the comments faster than they would have in a Susan Boyle Playmate layout. <br /> <br /> While BMW's particular brand of crossover design has never been anything but controversial, we think the X1 looks pretty much okay. But the second, and maybe more vocal camp, can best be summed up as, "Why?" As in why would BMW bother? According to <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/top+gear"><em>Top Gear</em></a> ace <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/jeremy+clarkson">Jeremy Clarkson</a>, they shouldn't have.<br /> <br /> No stranger to stinging reviews, even of <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/bmw">BMW</a> products (here's Jezza calling the <a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article1264971.ece">335 a "dog turd</a>"), Jeremy really seems to particularly dislike the new <a href="http://autoblog.com/model/x1">X1</a>. He hates the ride, the interior, the name (sDrive in particular), the diesel motor and the way it drives. Is there anything he likes about the small crossover? In a word, no. <a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article7105825.ece">Read his scathing <em>Times Online</em> piece for yourself</a>. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/">Frankfurt 2009: 2010 BMW X1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/#2284052"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/01-2010-bmw-x1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/#2284053"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/02-2010-bmw-x1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/#2284054"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/03-2010-bmw-x1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/#2284056"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/04-2010-bmw-x1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2009-2010-bmw-x1/#2284057"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/05-2010-bmw-x1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article7105825.ece">Times Online</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/27/jeremy-clarkson-on-bmws-x1-it-isnt-just-bad-its-rubbish/">Jeremy Clarkson on BMW's X1: It isn't just bad, it's 'rubbish'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 11:28:00 EST.
