They gathered up their video equipment and hopped on a plane. Destination: Japan! <br /> <br /> Bradley Hasemeyer and the Translogic team descended upon the Asian island nation to film a multi-part adventure, exploring different facets of the unique culture. First up on the agenda is the subject of modification. Hasemeyer kicks his trip off by checking out a group of folks who love tricking out their scooters. The mods add up quickly and the 250cc "Big Scooters" are fitted with everything from neon lighting to full air suspension setups.<br /> <br /> Moving on from the new-school world of scooter modding, Translogic examines the more classic Kaido Racer scene. This very unique styling endeavor gets its inspiration from the old-school FIA Group 5 racing league that included such legendary cars as the Porsche 917, Ferrari 512 and the Ford GT40 Mk 1. Now, the Japanese have obviously taken serious liberties in their own four-wheeled homages, but the result is a style that is nothing if not distinct.<br /> <br /> After scaling up from scooters to cars, Hasemeyer gets even bigger and shifts his focus to the van modding world. Starting with such a large canvas, the Japanese van culture goes absolutely crazy and transform their vans into creations that defy explanation. You'll have to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/01/video-translogic-goes-to-japan-checks-out-its-modding-culture/#continued">hop the jump</a> and watch the video to see the owners explain their obsessions.<br /> <br /> <br /> [Source: <a target="_blank" href="http://translogic.aolautos.com/2010/11/29/translogic-japan-part-1-modding/">AOL Autos Translogic</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/01/video-translogic-goes-to-japan-checks-out-its-modding-culture/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Translogic goes to Japan, checks out its modding culture</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/01/video-translogic-goes-to-japan-checks-out-its-modding-culture/">Video: Translogic goes to Japan, checks out its modding culture</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Wed, 01 Dec 2010 13:29:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><sma ll>2011 Nissan Leaf assembly - Click above to watch video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/03/video-2011-nissan-leaf-assembly-process-detailed/#continued">after the jump</a></small></em></strong></div> <br /> Earlier this week, we rolled out a <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/12/01/video-assembly-of-the-2011-chevrolet-volt/">time-lapse video of the assembly</a> of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/volt">2011 Chevrolet Volt</a>. In that video, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/gm/">General Motors</a> took us inside its Detroit-Hamtramck plant to watch its plug-in hybrid undergo a transformation from a bodyshell to a <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2010/11/30/chevrolet-volt-production-officially-begins-today-gm-auctioning/">ready-to-roll vehicle</a>. In the all-too-brief clip, GM attempted to capture the complex steps of assembling the Chevy Volt but, as many of our commenters pointed out, failed to provide a detailed look at the intricate technologies that differentiate the Volt from more conventional vehicles.<br /> <br /> In an attempt to be as fair as possible, it's only fitting that we also showcase the assembly of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/leaf">2011 Nissan Leaf</a>. This video, shot inside Nissan's plant in Oppama, Japan, captures the production of the Leaf in painstaking detail. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/03/video-2011-nissan-leaf-assembly-process-detailed/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to watch the Nissan Leaf as it comes together right before your eyes. <br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive">2011 Nissan Leaf: First Drive</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/01nissanleaf2011fd_thumbn ail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/02nissanleaf2011fd_thumbn ail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/03nissanleaf2011fd_thumbn ail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/04nissanleaf2011fd_thumbn ail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2011-nissan-leaf-first-drive/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/05nissanleaf2011fd_thumbn ail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> <strong><em><font size="1"> Photos copyright (C)2010 Damon Lavrinc</font></em></strong><strong><em><font size="1"> / AOL</font></em></strong><br /> <br /> [Source: Nissan via <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saPWgjsRcAQ">YouT ube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/03/video-2011-nissan-leaf-assembly-process-detailed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: 2011 Nissan Leaf assembly process detailed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/03/video-2011-nissan-leaf-assembly-process-detailed/">Video: 2011 Nissan Leaf assembly process detailed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 19:02:00 EST. Report: Toyota trimming global production goals for 2011
<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/japan/" rel="tag">Japan</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/plants-manufacturing/" rel="tag">Plants/Manufacturing</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/toyota/" rel="tag">Toyota</a></p><a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6B409G20101205"><i mg vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" class="right border" alt="Toyota Sales" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/12/toyota-250.jpg" /></a>According to <em>Reuters</em>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/toyota">Toyota</a> has scaled back its production forecasts for 2011. Thanks to slowly improving sales in the U.S., the automaker has trimmed its plans for next year from eight million vehicles to 7.8 million - a drop of 200,000 units. If that's the case, 2011 will mark the third straight year that the Japanese Automaker has fallen short of the eight million unit mark, excluding Daihatsu and Hino Motors. The report came courtesy of a Japanese newspaper, which cited an unnamed source for the information. Toyota does not publish its production plans.<br />
<br /> <em>Reuters</em> says that in the first 10 months of 2010, the company managed to match 2009 production numbers with 6.37 million vehicles. While the final total for this year is expected to be a good deal higher, there's little chance of the company pre auto-industry crash figures this year or next. With government incentives for fuel-efficient vehicles, specifically hybrids, on their way out the door, <em>Reuters </em>reports that sales for the big three Japanese automakers have fallen considerably.<br /> <br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6B409G20101205">Re uters</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/07/report-toyota-trimming-global-production-goals-for-2011/">Report: Toyota trimming global production goals for 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 07 Dec 2010 10:01:00 EST.
