2011 Cadillac SRX: Recall Alert

General Motors has announced the recall of 47,401 Cadillac SRX crossovers built for the 2011 model year.
The vehicles in question were built between February 2, 2010 and April 29, 2011. The problem: the crossovers in the recall will not deploy right-side roof-rail airbags if sensors determine the front passenger seat to be unoccupied. This could increase the chances of injury for a right-rear-seat occupants in the event of certain frontal and side impact crashes.
As implemented, the airbag system in the recalled vehicles fails to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards for occupant crash protection.
GM dealers will reprogram the sensing and diagnostic module to deploy the right-side roof-rail airbags in a crash, even if the passenger seat is unoccupied.
Owners will be notified by mail, and the recall is expected to begin on or about June 17.
