Bmw 2-Series in the works! M2 a possibility
The new trend in the automotive business is to build smaller and more eco-friendly cars, and it appears that Bmw wants to follow this path in order to improve its sales. First vehicle developed by Bmw will be the 2-Series. How do we know this? Well. Bmw filed U.S. trademark applications for these designations: 228, 230, and 235. If you are not a Bmw fan, we will tell you that -28, -30, and -35 suffixes come from the six-cylinder engine these cars will carry under the hood. Still, Bmw could also offer a model equipped with a four-cylinder engine.
The 2-Series is expected to be rear-wheel drive. What is more interesting is that Bmw filed a trademark application for the “M2” moniker. The new Bmw 2-Series will take on cars such as the next-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class, which is expected to make quite a buzz on the market when it will be introduced.
Furthermore, Bmw will also introduce in 2011 the revamped 1-Series. Sources say that the new 1-Series Coupe might adopt the 2-Series badging and rear-wheel drive, while the 1-Series is expected to make the
switch to a front-wheel-drive platform. But these are not the only new models from Bmw, as the Bavarian manufacturer will also introduce the MegaCity Vehicle as well as an entry-level vehicle positioned below the 1-Series which will take on the Ford Fiesta.
