Nissan's reborn Datsun brand continues to expand its range of affordable vehicles primarily aimed at developing automotive markets with a new subcompact sedan that was spied in Russia this week.
At this point, we don't know the name or anything else about the car, for that matter, but as suggested by local website Wroom, the new Datsun saloon is likely based on the Lada Granta, which itself, rides on the same platform as the Lada Kalina, developed by Russian automaker AvtoVAZ in collaboration with Renault.
As you may recall, the Renault-Nissan alliance has a majority stake in a joint venture with Lada's parent company AutoVAZ, called Alliance Rostec Auto BV, and plans to take full control of the Russian automaker later this year.
A hatchback version of the Datsun saloon is rumored to follow towards the end of 2014.
