Since falling from its glory days of yore - when it won nine constructors championships an seven drivers titles - the Williams F1 team has been desperate to light a fire under its drivers and engineers to get back to its winning form. But we don't think this is what Frank Williams and his deputy Patrick Head had in mind.

This past summer the team's factory in Grove, England, caught on fire, threatening the staff, the facility and the cars on premises. The fire started when a machine in the metal department malfunctioned. Local fire fighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, saving one and all.

Sir Frank was so grateful that he made a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity and brought the brigade back to the repaired factory this week for an inside tour. You know, just in case being a fire fighter wasn't cool enough already.

[Source: F1-Live | Image: Mark Thompson/Getty]
Sir Frank Williams praises fire fighters for saving factory originally appeared on Autoblo g on Tue, 27 Oct 2009 07:28:00 EST.
