Even if Chinese automakers are currently involved in takeover negotiations for several European brands, these companies go further with their development plans and are getting ready to present their very own... "clones". Unfortunately, Chinese companies continue copying models seen in Europe or in other markets, as you can see from this new creation "belonging" to Changfeng.

The car has been photographed in the Changfeng factory, chincartimes.com wrote today, with the images giving us a glimpse into how the future model, currently codenamed CP2, will look like. The car is somewhat like a mix of Volvo S40 with some other models, including Volkswagen and Audi, as you can see for yourselves in the adjacent photo

published on sohu.com. But the main part that reminds us of Volvo S40 is surely the front fascia, including the headlights which are somehow similar with the ones seen on the model manufactured by the Swedish manufacturer.

According to the aforementioned source, the car measures (LxWxH) 4,480mm x 1,770mm x 1,462mm, and has a wheelbase of 2,640m, which means it enters the B segment to compete with Mazda6 and VW Passat.

As you probably know from our previous reports, Chinese automaker are somehow experienced when it comes to copying models sold in Europe. The best example is Geely's GE limo which perfectly resembles Rolls Royce Phantom and comes at a price much lower than the one of the luxury model built by the British automaker.

Rolls Royce Phantom sells its luxurious Phantom for as much as 250,000 pounds, while Geely is apparently planning to set a price tag of no more than 30,000 pounds for its clone.

Geely GE to Use DSI Transmission

Remember Geely GE? Thought it was just a Chinese prank, a type of "we can do it too, Rolls"? Well, wrong... The Phantom Clone is coming, probably sometimes next yeat and will make use of the Chinese manufacturer's newly developed DSI transmission, as will all models with engines of 1.5l and more.

The Chinese manufacturer earlier this year bought Australian Drivetrain Systems International (DSI), the world's second largest automatic transmission producer and plans on putting it to work. Geely has projected an annual output of some 200,000 units within two years after production begins in id 2010, Gasgoo reported.

Despite the newly gained "leader" rank, China will not be the single market targeted by Geely's DSI transmissions. The manufacturer plans on delivering them to foreign manufacturers as well, including Ford, SsangYong and Indian car manufacturers.

"China's booming auto market will soon extricate DSI from the present difficult position. Meanwhile, DSI's strength on design and manufacture of automatic transmission will advance Geely's core competitiveness," Li Shufu, Geely chairman of the board was quoted as saying by the source.

As for the GE model itself, it has nothing to do with the Rolls Royce Phantom malicious media reports said it copies. In fact, "they are actually different... people may feel they are the same at the first glance, but the details are certainly different," spokeswoman Zhang Xiaoshu said back in April, when talk of a possible Rolls Royce suit was circling above.

But who are we kidding? Frankly, we hardly wait for it to get here. We're curios to see if someone has the guts to buy one and take it for a spin on London streets, "royal court" style.

And then maybe Geely themselves will see the difference.

Chanfeng Are Busy Working On A Volvo S40 Clone

Changfeng, a Chinese automaker, is currently working on a Volvo S40 clone which was caught in its own factory. The car is currently named the CP2 and it will look very much like the Volvo S40, and then also feature a few cues from other models.
The main part in the front is similar to that of the Volvo S40 and it will feature similar parts to other VW and also Audi models. There will be dimensions that will allow the model to rival the Mazda6 and Volkswagen Passat.

Changfeng’s Zhuo Yue sedan spotted out

Changfeng was recently soaked into the Guangzhou Auto empire but this has not stopped the development of Changfengs self developed sedan, which has been named the Zhuo Yue which roughly translates to splendid.

The Zhuo Yue was codenamed as the CP21, and was known by the Chinese automotive press as ‘the fake S40′ but it seems that Changfeng has greater aims for the CP21 than being just an S40 clone. The benchmark for the car is reportedly the S40 and Ford Focus, but the CP21 will soon be joined by a hatchback (codenamed CP22) and also a coupe (codenamed CP23).
The Ministry of Industry and Communications has already given the CP21 a license for production and it is likely to be launched very soon powered by 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L engines that Changfeng bought from Ford and Visteon in 2008.
