Chevrolet Volt gets five-star NHTSA rating

Incorporating most of the technologies that feature the GM cars, the Chevrolet Volt provides safety systems which include front, side, knee air bags, a rearview camera system as well as a StabiliTrak electronic stability control system.
Chevrolet Volt, which is considered to be GM's car of the moment and of the future, has recently obtained an important victory, receiving from NHTSA ( the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) a five star rating, implying that it performs a great job when it comes to protecting the driver and the passengers. It was subjected to some crash tests under the organization's revised New Car Assessment Program. Volt was handed the rating after it had already been awarded by the other US safety watch dog, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. A five -year subscription to OnStar's Directions and Connections Plan which includes Automatic Crash Response, is offered as a bonus. Doug Parks, Volt global vehicle line executive, stated that safety was a key consideration for all buyers no matter how a car was powered, gas, or in the case of Volt, electricity and the rating came tot ie the score between the American plug-in hybrid vehicle and the Japanese electric vehicle, the Nissan Leaf. The Euro NCAP, which is the European equivalent of the NHTSA, awarded the Leaf with a five star rating as well, not long ago.
