Front end of 2010 BMW 5 Series leaked

As expected, it looks like a BMW nose, complete with twin kidney grille, wide lower intake, and a spot for the Roundel. The new 5er is likely to share a resemblance with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/officially-official-2010-bmw-z4/">upcoming Z4 rework</a>, meaning the standard practice of evolving the established style will continue unabated. We'll wait to pass final judgement until we see the nose attached to the rest of the sheetmetal, but the 5 may not tiptoe as near the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/bmw-announces-pricing-for-2009-7-series-raises-prices-on-everyt/">2009 7 series'</a> new duds as first thought, though the headlamps may be similar. It seems that BMW's going conservative after taking flak over its design direction. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.bmwblog.com/2008/12/28/2010-bmw-5-series-bumper-design-leaked/">BMWBlog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/29/front-end-of-2010-bmw-5-series-leaked/">Front end of 2010 BMW 5 Series leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 14:31:00 EST. Bid farewell to BMW's legendary M inline-six

<br />Say what you will about their design department, but BMW is known for producing some of the most amazing engines on the market. Especially the Bavarian automaker's stoic M division, whose current V10 engine has won its fair share of awards and then some. The same goes for the S54B32, Bimmer's internal code-name for the 3.2-liter iron-block straight-six which the company is now preparing to retire after seven years in production.<br /><br />Over its lifetime, the 3.2 provided motivation for such performance icons as the E46 M3, the Z3-based M roadster and breadvan, and the Z4 M, as well as the exotic Wiesmann MF3. But with a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/officially-official-2010-bmw-z4/">new Z4</a> on its way, S54B32 is being sent to pasture, replaced now in various applications by Bimmer's highly-rated twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. The latter is a a fantastic engine, but there will always be a special place in our hearts for the cast-iron 3.2.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/">Car</a> via <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/bmw-retires-the-z4-ms-straight-six-engine.html">Motor Authority</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/bid-farewell-to-bmws-legendary-m-inline-six/">Bid farewell to BMW's legendary M inline-six</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008 11:29:00 EST. Give this 550-hp V10 Hartge BMW Z4 a home

<div align="center"><em><small ><strong>Click above for image gallery of Hartge's V10-powered BMW Z4</strong></small></em><br /></div>
<br />Here at Autoblog, we cherish the simple things in life. Like a cold beer on a hot afternoon, spending the holidays with family or stuffing an oversized engine into a little sportscar. It's a time-honored tradition, and this example is no less worthy than any that has come before.<br /><br />Evidently unsatisfied with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/bid-farewell-to-bmws-legendary-m-inline-six/">S54B32 inline-six</a> powering the top-of-the-line Z4 M, one European enthusiast dropped in the 5.0-liter V10 from the M5 and M6 into his little Z4. But even the stock 507 horses from the high-revving ten wasn't enough for this Bimmerphile, so he went with Hartge's 550-hp version, complemented by the tuner's own 20-inch rims, but, worryingly, no sign of upgraded brakes to go with the 200+ extra horsepower. The converted roadster cost &euro;170k new, but is now <a href="http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/showDetails.html?lang=en& id=84403732&pageNumber=1& scopeId=C&sortOption.sort By=searchNetGrossPrice&so rtOption.sortOrder=DESCEN DING&makeModelVariant1.ma keId=3500&makeModelVarian t1.modelId=55&makeModelVa riant1.searchInFreetext=f alse&makeModelVariant2.se archInFreetext=false&make ModelVariant3.searchInFre etext=false&vehicleCatego ry=Car&segment=Car&siteId =GERMANY&damageUnrepaired =ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&e xport=ALSO_EXPORT&custome rIdsAsString=&tabNumber=1 ">on the market</a> for under &euro;98k (tax in), or about $138,000 in American greenbacks. A hefty sum for sure, but can you really put a price on 0-60 in under 4?<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/">Hartge V10 BMW Z4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/1250301/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw-z4-v10-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/1250302/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw-z4-v10-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/1250303/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw-z4-v10-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/1250304/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw-z4-v10-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hartge-v10-bmw-z4/1250306/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw-z4-v10-14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autogespot.com/item/2889/te-koop-bmw-z4m-met-een-v10/">Autogespot</a> via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/12/for-sale-bmw-z4-with-551hp-m5-v10.html">CarScoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/give-this-550hp-v10-hartge-bmw-z4-a-home/">Give this 550-hp V10 Hartge BMW Z4 a home</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008 12:31:00 EST. Report: BMW finally green-lights 5-Series "Progressive Activity Sedan"

<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/sedans/" rel="tag">Sedans/Saloons</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/crossovers-cuvs/" rel="tag">Crossovers/CUVs</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/hatchbacks/" rel="tag">Hatchbacks</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bmw/" rel="tag">BMW</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/rendered-speculation/" rel="tag">Rendered Speculation</a></p><a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=23671 2"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/bmw_v52pav.jpg" /></a>Call it V5, 5 Series GT, 5 Series Fastback, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/24/bmw-progressive-activity-sedan-coming-to-frankfurt-in-09/">Progressive Activity Sedan</a>... call it what you will. Whatever moniker you give it, BMW has evidently crossed the Rubicon and there's no turning back. As expected based upon <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/28/bmws-2009-unveiling-schedule/">BMW's previously leaked roster of 2009 reveals</a>, the 5 Series -based hatchback has been approved. Called "one of the bravest designs ever signed off by BMW," it is BMW's take on everything-all-the-time: a flexible, luxury GT. <br /><br />Although it is being referred to as a 5-Series family member, the car is actually expected to arrive on the same platform as the 7 Series. As such, the PAS is coming off as the ultimate tweener car: longer than a 5 Series sedan, yet shorter than a 7 Series; taller than a 5 Series, yet shorter than an X6. Cost is expected to straddle the gap, too: it should cost more than a 5 Series but less than a 7 Series. One description offered was "more of a 'tall 7-series hatchback than a low-rise X6."<br /><br />At the very front, the PAS is said to take cues from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/16/spy-shots-are-reports-of-the-bmw-cs-demise-exaggerated/">CS Concept</a>. That nose treatment flows into a sedan-like lower body topped by an X6 greenhouse, rear hatch, and rear end treatment. Interior design cues will come from the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/officially-official-2010-bmw-z4/">Z4</a>, and a roomy, semi-raised cabin is promised. Possible engines for the car in Europe include the 3.0-liter turbo diesel, while a 3.0-liter gas could would come to the States.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=23671 2">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/31/report-bmw-green-lights-5-series-progressive-activity-sedan/">Report: BMW finally green-lights 5-Series "Progressive Activity Sedan"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Wed, 31 Dec 2008 09:59:00 EST. <br />Long before the retro-licious Z8 and the modern 6 Series, BMW's range-topping sport coupe was the 8-Series. Characterized by its distinctive shark nose and available with a choice of eight- or 12-cylinder engines, the 8-Series was sadly never offered as a convertible. But it would have made a smart-looking roadster, as one customer was evidently determined to discover.<br /><br />Commissioned by Erik Williams, offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys back in their glory days, this one-of-a-kind 1991 BMW 850i convertible is now up for sale by a dealer in New Braunfels, Texas. Craftsmanship of the folding soft-top, as you can see from the images in the gallery below, may not be up to world-class standards, but for a unique V12-powered German cabrio, the $25,900 asking price is at least accessible.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/">Custom 1991 BMW 850Ci</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/1250037/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/front_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/1250038/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/fronttd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/1250039/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/fronttu_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/1250040/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/int_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-1991-bmw-850ci/1250042/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/left_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.automaniacs.com/91BMW/91bmw.htm">Automaniacs</a> via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/12/custom-made-bmw-850i-convertible-up-for.html">CarScoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/31/ex-cowboys-1991-bmw-850ci-one-off-for-sale-in-texas/">Ex-Cowboys' 1991 BMW 850Ci one-off for sale in Texas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Wed, 31 Dec 2008 14:28:00 EST.
